OAQS (PTY) LTD Quantity Surveyors (“OAQS”)

OAQS Professional Quantity Surveyors, established since 2000.

The practice structure changed in 2021 and the name from Oosthuizen and Associates to OAQS (Pty) Ltd Quantity Surveyor or abbreviated “OAQS” during which time Johan Dawid Wiehman, well experienced candidate quantity surveyor involved with the practice for the past 12 years, became a Key Figure of the Company.

Further, the principal quantity surveyor and practice holds Professional registrations with the ASAQS and SACQSP in good standing.

​

The practice is known for extensive experience in various fields amongst others in addition to general quantity surveying services, involvement with contractors in the building and civils construction industry, property development, contractual mitigation, claims adjudication, dispute resolution, assistance in mediation and arbitration, payment structuring and valuations for development financial institutions, reporting and assistance with other litigation construction dispute matters, property cost and replacement valuations for insurance matters, principal agency, project, and construction management, tendering and cost consulting for construction sector, mentorship of candidate quantity surveyors for professional registration with SACQSP.

 

The Principal Quantity Surveyor furthermore obtained Namibian Citizenship during his partnership in Namibia (Since September 1990- December1999) enabling service on both sides of the border in accordance with the Namibian council guidelines and conditions.

Due to the aforementioned years of experience and being a partner in a Namibian practice, the practice is well acquainted with Namibia in all wind directions having visited various urban and remote rural areas.

​

The combination of the vast scope of experience and skills gained, allowed the venture of various interesting boundaries of the Profession and the Construction industry, gaining further valuable experience.

​

The practice added additional Professional services to their portfolio by assistance within the Construction sector, amongst others especially for CSV Construction (Pty) Ltd, for training and establishing their Construction Quantity Surveying and Building Construction section.

​

During the aforementioned, extensive experience was gained, by being involved on executive level with the core of the construction, project management and contractual claims and resolutions.

​

The incorporation of a mentorship programme for Candidate Construction Quantity Surveyors was included as an integral part of services.  This programme is currently assisting various Candidate Quantity Surveyors in their road to Professional Registration with the SACQSP and expanding extensively. OAQS Quantity Surveyors and prominent contractors amongst others being CSV Construction, JNA Projects, Longworth and Faul and GVK Siyazama has Candidates currently enrolled within the program.

Relationships with various reliable freelance Quantity Surveyors and/or other Practices are established to assist in the event of excessive workload.

​

Years of proven experience and knowledge of the profession, development, the construction industry, property and multiple resolutions of contractual conundrums, provide OAQS Professional Quantity Surveyors with the additional edge of risk mitigation and value engineering from all sides of the “table”, ensuring a productive practice with multiple skills for ensuring cost effective projects and thus a professional service with the provision of minimal risk and advice to the Client.

The principal QS is enrolled with the association of arbitrators Southern Africa and holds a Registration in Good Standing.
